Here are a few more things that we have learned over the last few hours...
• This morning's CT scan showed more damage has occurred in the frontal lobe. This means that there was more brain damage than we originally saw.
• Doctor suspected increased intracranial pressure in the frontal lobes and occipital lobes and inserted a drill into the frontal skull to decrease the pressure. This is their focus right now.
• This morning, Brandon started breathing on his own with minor assistance from the ventilator. However, due to the doctor's drilling to relieve pressure, they returned the ventilator to its original settings.
• He is taking deep breaths on his own and moving his upper extremities very slightly.
• His vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, etc.) are all pretty good right now.
• Brandon has a great gag reflex when the ET tube is suctioned.
They will do another CT scan tomorrow morning. Our prayer is that there will be no further damage.
Okay, Brandon. Sleep now, and let your brain continue to heal. When you wake up, we'll all be here cheering you on. This is going to be a climb. But you are strong and competitive, and love a challenge. So we know you can do this. And your amazing family and faithful friends are right there with you, ready to help you all the way. You will never be alone. We love you, and your Savior is absolutely NUTS about you. Together, we can do this.

ReplyDeleteAmong the worrisome news there is much to be thankful for already--so much progress made in just one day. The brain is a remarkable organ which can compensate and adapt and heal in amazing ways. Add in faith, the loving support of so many friends and family members, and Brandon's strong spirit, and you have a winning combination.

Banking on the truth of God's eternal power and love as we pray for you. Isaiah 40:10-11 "See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and His arm rules for Him...He tends His flock like a Shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close too His heart."
ReplyDeleteMay God encourage you with His truth as you lean on Him to do what you cannot do. He is a BIG God.
